What’s Ezrohir Mine?
Ezrohir Mine is a Torchlight II mod that was created with another RIT student during November and December of 2015. It’s a procedurally generated dungeon that continues infinitely. Each floor consists of four chunks, an entrance, an exit, and two intermediary chunks that connect them to each other. By randomizing which chunks are used, it allows for a larger number of different floor layouts than what would have been possible if we had created the layouts manually.
My Role – Level Designer
In this project I created 8 11 x 11 chunks that served as the entrances and exits to each floor of the dungeon. For each cardinal direction, there was an entrance and exit chunk allowing for us to generate varied floor layouts. I also ran playtests of the level to gain feedback on potential improvements and to make sure that it flowed correctly. This included manually creating test layouts while we were working on getting the procedural generation to function properly.
